How do I get German Characters to appear on documents I create?

If you are using Microsoft Word you can do the following.

To get ä or Ä Hit SHIFT, CONTROL and : at the same time.  Then type the a or A
To get ö or Ö Hit SHIFT, CONTROL and : at the same time.  Then type the o or O
To get ü or Ü Hit SHIFT, CONTROL and : at the same time.  Then type u or U
To get ß Hit SHIFT, CONTROL and 7 at the same time.  Then type s
To get the € Hit CONTROL, ALT, and E

If you are using any other word processing program you could check the instruction book that came with the program, or you can use the following codes with the ALT Key.  These work for creating HTML documents as wel.

To get ä Hit ALT plus 132
To get Ä Hit ALT plus 142
To get ö Hit ALT plus 148
To get Ö Hit ALT plus 153
To get ü Hit ALT plus 129
To get Ü Hit ALT plus 154
To get ß Hit ALT plus 225
To the EURO symbol Click on INSERT, scroll down to SYMBOL, select €, clickon Insert
